Key West Beach

by in Beaches & Water

Key West is not known for it’s beaches.  I has a few cool public beaches that we did visit.  Largest recommendation I have is to wear boat shoes.  The beaches are not sandy rather than broken sea shells.  On feet, it’s somewhat uncomfortable.  Now about the beaches …..

Ft Zachary Taylor Park and Beach was a great place to visit.   We walked down and relaxed at the concession stand. It was hot that day (really not, but my Chicago body wasn’t ready for hot weather) and there was good shade.  You cannot bring drinks into the Park, but you could buy some at the concession stand.  They even had some decent beer which made the trip more relaxing.  I am going to get into all the things the park has to offer so here is a link that will go to their website for the details.

Walking into the water was the time I wish I bought boat shoes.  The beach was a little uncomfortable.  They rented chairs which would have been nice if we stayed longer.  No doubt it was a nice relaxing time overlooking the ocean.    After the rest on the beach, we talked over to the historic Fort for a tour.  It was absolutely wonderful and glad we had time to walk around.

We did have a chance to stop at the Southern Most Beach.  I will talk more about that in a bit.

Grand Tortugas was our last beach visit….more to come about this.
