Crock Pot Margarita Chicken Dip

in Food, Recipes (No comments)

Yes, I know it’s a little early but I found this great recipe. In honor of Cinco de Mayo, I have a fun twist on margarita chicken with this Crock Pot Margarita Chicken Dip. This is an easy slow cooker dip recipe inspired by the flavors of lime, tequila, and orange. Cinco de Mayo is a great day to enjoy some Mexican cuisine, but who really needs an excuse to kick back with a margarita and some tortilla chips?

Breakfast at Blue Heaven

in Food (No comments)

My Marketing Manager, Catherine, found out we were headed to Key West and gave us a must visit list. Blue Heaven was top of her list. She said it was casual but food was amazing. She was absolutely correct. So the first morning we were there, we stopped for breakfast after a tour of Ernest Hemingway’s Home. There was a wait so we relaxed with a Bloody Mary in the stage/open area.  It had an excellent mix is spices and was a great start to the morning. It was a beautiful day and just relaxing after our tour

Key West Lime Juice

in Food, Recipes (No comments)

In making any of my recipes, I’ve been using Nellie & Joe’s Key Lime Juice.  Check out the Key West Lime Dip that I have listed on the website  Click Here to View Recipe.

Luckily, I have been able to find the juice locally.  Meijer had it along with Lemon Juice.  In looking at their website, it looks like they have a few recipes which I now have to try!

Nellie & Joe’s Famous Key West Lime Juice has long been considered the consummate lime juice of choice for discerning chefs who rely on quality, consistency and convenience. Now this premier product has been infused with even more appeal when paired with the exotic and tantalizing flavor of Mango. Introducing a spectacular taste sensation that gives the traditional Key Lime Pie a new twist, Nellie & Joe’s Key West Mango Key Lime is also the perfect ingredient to create uniquely tropical tasting beverages.

If you are doing Key Lime, you have to do it Key West Style!  Check out their website for more information. Click Here

Key Lime Crunch Yogurt

in Food (No comments)

Want the flavor of Key Lime Pie?   My wife found Yoplait® Mix-In’s at Mejier and they are great.  They are 190 calories and most likely better for you than Key Lime Pie, but we’ll leave that for you to try!    One side is Key Lime Yogurt and the other side is crumbled graham cracker crust.  It’s a good and healthy substitute.

Here’s a little advice from Project.Com about work life balance.  It’s something I struggled with for some time until my Trip to Key West and a chat with my flight doctor!   Please check this out.   Remember, I do not live to work, I work so I can live!

Key West Music

in Music (No comments)

A little about music in Key West.  Love it.   I wish I had more time to relax and listen to the bands.  We did get a chance to sit down three times to listen to music and enjoy the atmosphere.  It was wonderful.  First stop was The Bull Bar.  Great open bar with a great band just before the Off Shore Races started.  After the Bull, we stopped at Irish Kevins.  New York Pauly was playing.  He’s a must see.  He had us dying with laughter!  Lastely and my favorite, the stage at Sunset Pier. The photo scene in this post is from our visit.  It’s a must see!

Sunset Pier

in My Key West (No comments)

The first place and my main place I HAD to visit during my trip was Sunset Pier.  I’ve watched their webcams for many hours and totally fell in love with the place.  Being on the water with beverages and watching the sunset with amazing music in the background is basically heaven on earth.  No better place to be.  It’s a must see if you visit Key West.  Located at Ocean Key Resort & Spa and next to Mallory Square, it makes for a very easy visit both during the day and at sunset.

For drinks, you cannot go wrong.  There’s a lot of standard bears such as Heineken and Corona.  There are many local drinks as well.  I have to say I’ve loved having the Key West Sunset Ale.  Just overall a good beer. It was good enough to by 6 bottles for my condo during my stay. Nothing like a breakfast beer?

Food is amazing.  The Yucca Fries were recommended by a visiting couple when we chatted with them. They said it was good and we took a taste. Other items we tried were the Conch Fritters, jerk Wings, and Cuban Mix.  Very good choices.

Mix all of this together, and it’s a great trip to the pier.  Music that is provided is local and just wonderful to listen to.  No cover, but get there early for seating because the pier section to the north was damaged during Hurricane Irma.  Sitting on the pier section was part of my goal on this trip which was lost during the hurricane damage.  This means I will be back at some point!
